St. Margaret's Co-educational English Secondary and Primary School
To celebrate the joy that reading brings to our lives and the incredible power of books, our dedicated Reading Across Curriculum Team has put together a wonderful selection of fun activities for everyone at school to enjoy from 28 April to 2 May. Highlighting this year's theme, “Growing Through Books,” students and teachers came together to share their love of literature.
During the Weekly Assembly, all students enjoyed a Reading Marathon video, produced in six languages by over 70 presenters, including teachers, students, and parents. The book selected for a school-wide reading this year is Frances Hodgson Burnett's novel, “The Secret Garden”.
Students from P.1 to P.4 dressed-up as their favourite book characters and took the stage to share the wonderful stories behind their costumes. The creativity and effort displayed in these costumes truly inspired everyone.Meanwhile, S.1 and S.2 students created engaging book-themed booth games for the Reading Carnival. Students of all ages were invited to join in the fun and enjoy games crafted by fellow book lovers. We extend our gratitude to our Library Parent Volunteers and the book publishers who participated in the fair.
Additionally, both primary and secondary students enjoyed creating bookmarks in class. Throughout the week, the Chinese department also organised a range of in-class activities as extensions of the theme book reading.
World Book Day is such a fun celebration of creativity and learning. We hope this special day sparks their interest in exploring different books and helps them develop a lifelong love for reading!
