School Motto - Pursuit of virtues to perfection with self-renewal spirit

“Pursuit of virtues to perfection with self-renewal spirit” meant to inspire students, to enable them to develop their inborn integrity, to renovate their rectitude, to rectify their conduct and act vigorously as well as to increase their knowledge as treasure. With all these values in mind, students can contribute a lot to the continuous advancement of the world so that many things can come to the realm of greatest excellence and perfection.

School Badge Exegesis

• The cross at the lower right corner denotes the management of the School is based upon the spirit of Christ.
• The three emblems at the upper left corner symbolize the three great virtues: wisdom, humanity and courage, as depicted in The Doctrine of the Mean and The Analects.
• The grain stalks at the bottom signify the good harvest after the strenuous cultivation.

The overall meaning of the badge is that the management of the Schools is based upon the spirit of Christ, heading towards the three great Confucian virtues: wisdom, humanity and courage, with the enthusiasm in learning to seek wisdom, the perseverance to perform humanity and the awareness of shame to impel the courage to progress. Having these three virtues to cultivate oneself, with the determination to proceed and the persistence to learn, one can accumulate very rich knowledge and experience so as to reach the Confucian state, an ideal state of life, that wise men are never confused, kind-hearted people are never worried and courageous men are never perturbed.

校訓 - 《明德新民， 止於至善》

出處 ：

「大學之道，在明明德， 在新民， 在止於至善。」 《禮記 - 大學》

大學之道 ：

大學， 朱熹釋為 「大人之學」， 意即指有關政治或人生哲理等高深而廣博的學問。

明德 ：

儒家認為人生來便具有善良光明的德性， 此即為明德， 但卻受到後天物質利害的蒙蔽壓抑。 若加以適當的教育， 便能使明德顯露出來。

新民 ：

「新」 動詞， 革新之意。 即不斷敦品勵行， 自我革新求進， 然後推己及人， 將自己的德學貢獻給社會。

止於至善 ：

止的意思並不是終止， 而是 「必至於是而不遷」 之意；換言之， 「止」 兼有達成和維持之意義。 未達理想前， 必須勉力以赴； 達成之後則務使其維持不墜， 這才算是 「止」。 故祇有使事物皆能達到最美善圓滿的境界， 才能稱得上是 「止於至善」。

總而言之 ，校訓 《明德新民， 止於至善》 的用意就是啟發學生， 使他們都能發揚與生俱來的光明德性， 自新其德， 敦品勵行， 積學儲寶。 進而成己成物， 將德學貢獻出來， 使社會不斷進步， 事事物物都能達到最美善圓滿的。

校徽釋義

• 右下角十字徽號表示我校以基督精神辦學。
• 左上角三徽號代表智、 仁、 勇三達德， 見諸 《中庸》 及 《論語》。
• 底部， 禾穗圖案代表有力耕耘後得到豐收之意義。

就徽章的整體含義言之， 意謂我校以基督精神辦學， 朝著儒家智、 仁、 勇三達德的理想， 以好學的精神求智， 以力行的精神履踐仁道， 以知恥的精神激發上進的勇氣。 將此三者作為修身的鵠的， 持志力行， 努力學習， 積累豐富的知識經驗， 以求達到儒家智者不惑、 仁者不憂、 勇者不懼的理想人生境界。 師生循此方向奮鬥， 自強不息， 假以時日， 十年樹木， 百年樹人， 今後必能桃李芬芳， 為社會培育出無數的棟梁美材。
