Visiting students from our Japanese sister school

St. Margaret’s had the pleasure of hosting seven high school students from our sister school in Japan for a week study trip (28 October-4 November 2024). During their stay, the students lived with our host families, providing them with a unique opportunity to experience daily life in Hong Kong.

At school, they participated in various classes, gaining insights into the differences between the educational systems of Japan and Hong Kong. Among the highlights were a cooking class where they made dumplings, and participated in a traditional Chinese paper cutting workshop. Both of these activities offered a deep dive into Hong Kong’s rich cultural heritage.

One of the most memorable days was their visit to Disneyland with our students, creating lasting memories and friendships. Over the weekend, the Japanese students enjoyed traditional dim sum, went hiking, and marvelled at the stunning night view from The Peak with their host families.

Although the week flew by, it was a valuable experience for both the visiting students and our students. It provided a wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange, allowing our students to learn more about Japanese culture directly from their peers. We sincerely hope that the bonds formed during this visit will continue to strengthen the relationship between our two schools in the future.
