This year our school’s Modern Languages Department created a multi-faceted programme to provide our students with a unique learning experience in Germany. Germany has a high reputation for Science, Sports, Engineering and Technology. It is a fabulous experience to learn outside the classroom and enjoy learning via hand-on activities in Germany.

Our students experienced the German culture, practised their language skills and visited some very interesting museums. For ten days, we were guests at our sister school the “Carl-Fuhlrott Gymnasium” in Wuppertal, where we experienced local life with host families. We also visited cities like Cologne, Bonn and Hagen which are near Wuppertal. Cologne, in particular, is a good example of a major German city.

One of the highlights of this tour was visiting the “Klutert” cave. Students have built a strong friendship by supporting each other and giving a helping hand during the activity. Our students have also built friendship with the German students and their host families. We visited five German cities, appreciating the culture, history and technology. Apart from sightseeing, we fully understood the reason why sport has such a high reputation in Germany and it is really fun and entertaining to experience this through many sports activities.

This study tour gave our students the opportunity to gain cultural knowledge, make new friends, explore a cave, visit museums, appreciate art pieces and sightsee in some major German cities. All in all, it was a remarkable experience for all of us!
