St. Margaret's Co-educational English Secondary and Primary School
In January 2024, a group of 14 secondary students embarked on an exciting journey to Spain, where they had the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the country for 11 days. Our base was the vibrant city of Seville, where the students stayed with Spanish families in their homes, providing them with an authentic cultural and linguistic experience. They relished the Spanish gastronomy, enjoying delicious meals prepared by their host families, as well as savoring traditional dishes and tapas at local restaurants.
During their time in Spain, our students delved into the rich history and culture of the region, exploring not only Seville but also other captivating cities like Cordoba and Granada. Apart from the cultural experiences, our students also engaged in valuable academic pursuits during their stay in Spain. They attended regular Spanish classes. Additionally, they had the unique opportunity to visit a high school in Seville, where they interacted with local students and attended classes taught entirely in Spanish, covering subjects such as religion, physical education, and robotics.
In addition to the educational aspects, our students enjoyed a variety of other activities that added to the richness of their experience. They participated in a cooking class, learning to prepare an authentic Spanish dish like gazpacho. They also had the pleasure of attending a flamenco class and witnessing an amazing live flamenco show.
In summary, this immersive journey has left an unforgettable mark on our students, filled with learning, laughter, and the bonds of friendship. It is an experience that will be cherished and remembered for years to come.
