Eight secondary students embarked on a ‘Journey to the West’ to immerse themselves in English and experience all the wonders of a new and foreign country from 24 June to 7 July 2023. Our study tour began at Limehouse Boarding School in Carlisle, England. We settled into our dorms, and our students prepared for a week-long visit in classes, participating in all the subjects that are on offer at Limehouse. We also learned about and experienced English customs and regular school life, which we practised during our visit. Our various activities also included hiking in the Lake District under difficult conditions, but we all came together as a team, supporting and helping each other along the way. The views were spectacular!After our Carlisle trip, we headed towards Scotland and spent 3 days exploring Edinburgh. We were grateful that we visited a castle and other museums, watched a parade with the classic sound of the famous Scottish bagpipe, experienced the beauty of LochNess, home to a monstrous legend, Nesie, and witnessed the most beautiful landscape, all whilst learning about the rich history of Scotland.This trip taught us more about who we are and what we can accomplish. It was an eye-opening experience filled with much laughter and building bonds new friends. We will certainly never forget all the great memories we made.
