St. Margaret's Co-educational English Secondary and Primary School
Our school is very honoured to have been awarded the "Hong Kong Outstanding School Study Tour Award", which was co-organized by Ming Pao and Exhibition Group Limited. The award received is for a Laos service tour we organized back in 2019.
From 28 December 2019 to 3 January 2020, 21 students from S.3 to S.6 and 3 teachers went on a service and community tour to a village in Laos to help a local school build a dormitory for their teachers. Our students stayed in host families, got to interact with local students and teachers, ate local foods, played local games and most important, learnt the process of making bricks in a traditional yet eco-friendly way. The bricks were then used to build walls to construct the dormitory.
At the end of the trip, our students were amazed by what they themselves had learnt. Not only did they think their help to build a dormitory was meaningful, but they also reflected upon their own blessed lives in Hong Kong. They also came to the realization that happiness is not all about material possessions. This experience brought them joy and meaning that would surely last a lifetime!
