To nurture our students to become global citizens, we encourage them to take part in competitions and activities that engage them in quality discussions on contentious worldwide issues.
S5 Michelle Theng and Donald Mak participated in the 22nd Lions International Youth Exchange Scholarship Essay Competition organised by the Lions Youth Exchange Foundation. The Foundation provides young people exchange opportunities to extend their international horizons and improve their communication skills.
Michelle and Donald each wrote a 1500-word essay on the topic of “Media facilitates search for truth or spreads fake news”, and they were both shortlisted as finalists of the competition to engage in a group discussion and make an individual presentation on information overload and the role of media in the current age.
As finalists of the competition, they were both awarded a certificate and cash coupons as recognition of their performances on the day of the award ceremony on 7 May 2022. Michelle, who was one of the top 10 finalists, will also be invited to join a Youth Exchange Camp in one of 100 cities organised by the Lions Club with a scholarship of HK$5,000 covering the camp fee and flight tickets.
