English Language Education

Children make sense of their world and their place in the society by absorbing different information around them. One of the most important aspects for children to gain knowledge and broaden their horizons is through exposure to a variety of texts and other learning materials. The English department has developed a theme-based curriculum with literature elements for our primary section where reading, writing, listening, speaking and grammar learning are all integrated. What is more, English is taught by English native speakers in primary. This in turn forms a solid foundation for students to learn in an authentic setting, allowing them to excel in their mastery of the English language as they continue their learning in secondary.

As our students move up to secondary, they will be exposed to Language Arts, Performing Arts, International Phonetic Alphabet as well as a tailored-made curriculum in Junior Secondary which will eventually prepare them to tackle the HKDSE.

Our students are nurtured in a strong and authentic English environment within the school with over 10 native English-speaking teachers. They are also exposed to all kinds of English language related activities including drama performance, writing competition, radio drama competition, English Speech Festival, Debate and English Study Tours. Our students are therefore highly confident, ready to take on the world as global citizens in the 21st century!
